Mission Statement
ACCIS is an organization in the State of Washington, composed of the chief information system officers from the cities and counties throughout the state. The goals of ACCIS are:
-
To promote a communication link between the Information Systems functions of the counties/cities.
-
To represent county/city Information Systems interests to state officials, and to call attention to legislation affecting data processing operations.
-
To provide education for county/city officers on roles, responsibilities, and requirements of Information Systems departments.
History
ACCIS began over 20 years ago as a small group of directors and managers of local government data processing departments. The association has grown to include membership of Information Technology (IT) Departments from most all the 39 counties, and at least 25 cities in the State of Washington. Both large and small organizations participate. Other members come from the State, including Department of Information Services, the Courts, State Police, Elections, Auditing, Justice, and others.

Conferences
We meet twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Each meeting is held in a pleasant location outside of the busiest cities giving us all a chance to escape the constant drum of activity in our offices and talk through issues. Conference offerings include regular meetings that run from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning and include speakers on a variety of relevant topics, focused round table discussions, and lots of just talking time.
Occasionally, special pre-conference seminars are offered. These pre-meeting activities in the past have included speakers on special issues, focused user groups, an active State and Local issues meeting, and a Public Access forum. Pre-conference activities usually begin sometime Wednesday morning.
Meetings are lively and all county and city I.T./I.S. managers and senior staff from around the state are welcome to attend.
While some vendors do occasionally join us, ACCIS is pretty fanatic about preserving this time for business. We ask that vendors honor this both when choosing whether or not to attend, and when planning their activities should they attend. This also extends to choices about how to use the information contained on this web site.
